(McMinnville, OR, April 22, 2014) Transaction Tax Resources, Inc. (TTR), the leading provider of sales and use tax answers, has expanded its content to include answers for pallets in all relevant taxability scenarios. This is important for companies in the manufacturing, wholesale and retail industries because pallets can be taxed differently depending on a variety of factors, such as who purchases the pallets, how the pallets are used, and whether they are returnable.

For example, the manufacturing industry uses pallets in a number of different ways. Some pallets may be used for shipping manufactured goods, while others are used to convey materials through the manufacturing process. TTR has examined these various pallet uses, among other factors, and compiled a complete list of tax answers for each taxability scenario in every state. The result is more than 650 new tax answers across all states.

"A variety of factors affect how states tax pallets and what exemptions may apply. For example, a non-returnable pallet may not be taxed the same way as a returnable one, even though both of them are purchased by the same type of entity and used in the same manner. Applying tax in these situations can be confusing, which is why we strive to make it simple. With the addition of this new content, our manufacturing, wholesale and retail subscribers will be able to correctly apply and report sales and use tax on their pallet purchases and sales." - Anthony DiRocco, Manager of Content Development, TTR
