The Wisconsin Department of Revenue recently released information about the taxability of moving services.

Wisconsin does not tax the service of moving items from one location to another. However, Wisconsin does tax disassembling, reassembling, and repair services. As a result, separately stated charges for disassembly and reassembly are taxable.

Charges for disassembling and reassembling are considered part of the non-taxable moving service price if (1) the primary object of the customer is to have the property moved from one location to another, and (2) the disassembly and reassembly charges are not separate and optional charges to the customer.
