The Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) issued guidance on the tax deferral program available for manufacturers starting October 1, 2015. The program is available for a maximum of five projects statewide, and two of the projects must be located in Eastern Washington. Tax is deferred on the first $10 million in costs for eligible buildings, machinery, and equipment for eligible projects. Manufacturers must begin paying the deferred taxes five years after the project is operationally complete.

Manufacturers may begin submitting applications to the DOR on September 1, 2015. Deferrals will be available on a first-in-time basis.
