Tennessee has delayed the start date for the law changes that would bring the state's sales and use tax laws into compliance with the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement (SSUTA). The changes will now take effect on July 1, 2017 instead of July 1, 2015 as previously scheduled.

The delayed changes include (1) requirements that sales are sourced to their destinations, (2) changes to the single article limitation for local sales taxes, (3) use of a single sales and use tax return covering multiple locations, and (4) implementation of certain privilege taxes in lieu of sales tax.
