Louisiana's sales tax holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 7th, and continue through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th. During the holiday, most purchases of tangible personal property for nonbusiness use are exempt. The exemption applies to the first $2,500 of the purchase price of individual items. Sales tax is due on any amount in excess of $2,500. Note that the exemption does not apply to purchases of motor vehicles or meals purchased for consumption where they are purchased (including to-go orders).
