Indiana passed a law prohibiting taxes on internet access. This law took effect on April 23, 2015. Although taxes on internet access are currently banned because of the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act (IFTA), this federal law is set to expire on October 1, 2015. At this time, it is not clear whether Congress will extend the ban. Due to this uncertainty, Indiana passed this law to ensure internet access would not be taxed in the state.
