Missouri "Show-Me Green" Tax Holiday Begins April 19

The Missouri Department of Revenue has issued a news release describing the state's upcoming "Show-Me Green" sales tax holiday. Mo. and Out-of-State Consumers Can Save on Energy-Efficient Appliances, Mo. Dept. of Revenue News Release (Mar. 16, 2012). During this sales tax holiday, which runs from April 19 through April 25, 2012, all new Energy Star-qualified appliance purchases will be exempt from Missouri sales tax. Energy Star appliances that qualify for the exemption include: clothes washers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps. Appliances that are not eligible for the exemption include: clothes dryers, trash compactors, conventional ovens, ranges, and stoves. The exemption applies to the first $1,500 of any appliance. If a qualifying appliance costs more than $1,500, any amount over will be subject to tax at the regular rate.
