Mar 19th, 2020

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, several states are providing tax relief measures for taxpayers.

Effective March 4, 2020, California is allowing taxpayers an extra 60 days to file or pay sales tax. This extension only applies to the payment of sales tax and not personal or corporate income tax payments.

Additionally, effective March 11, 2020, Maryland is extending certain business-related tax filing deadlines to June 1, 2020 for returns with due dates during the months of March, April, and May, 2020. The extension applies to businesses filing returns for sales and use tax, withholding tax, admissions tax, alcohol excise taxes, tobacco excise taxes, and motor fuel excise taxes.

Also, effective March 13, 2020, Alabama is imposing a temporary suspension of International Fuel Tax Agreement requirements and property tax payments on vehicles. 19_tax_relief_maryland
