Louisiana's sales tax rates and exemptions are set to change July 1, 2018, when several 2016 law changes will expire. In 2016, the Louisiana legislature made several changes to its sales tax laws. It suspended many exemptions and added new taxes. These changes are set to expire on July 1, 2018.

TTR is ready for these changes. We have been preparing for the changes and planning to update our tax answers in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the Louisiana legislature has entered a special legislative session to discuss the upcoming sales tax changes. The session started on May 22 and is set to end on June 4. We are tracking the special session and we will keep you, our subscribers, updated as soon as any changes are final.
