Effective October 1, 2017, applicants seeking a Louisiana sales tax resale certificate must meet a tax clearance requirement. To meet the requirement, applicants must be up to date on (1) the filing of all tax returns and reports, and (2) all tax payments, including interest, penalties, and fees.

Taxpayers that do not meet the tax clearance requirement will not be issued or allowed to renew a resale certificate unless the tax items in question (1) are under formal appeal or (2) are being paid in compliance with an installment agreement with the Department of Revenue.
