Tennessee Announces Three Sales Tax Holidays for 2021

Tennessee recently released guidance about its 2021 sales tax holidays. During a sales tax holiday select products may be bought tax-free. This year, Tennessee approved two extra sales tax holidays for (1) food, food ingredients, and prepared food; and (2) gun safes and gun safety equipment. These are in addition to the annual sales tax holiday for clothing, school supplies, and computers.

The clothing, school supplies, and computers sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021. The food, food ingredients, and prepared food sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021. The gun safes and gun safety equipment sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
