The Louisiana Department of Revenue published guidance stating that there will be no sales tax holidays in the state through June 30, 2025.
The Louisiana legislature recently approved a list of sales and use tax exemptions that will be in effect from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2025. The exemptions creating the state's sales tax holidays were not on the list. This means that Louisiana will not hold any of its sales tax holidays (Back-to-School, Hurricane Preparedness, and Second Amendment) until June 30, 2025.
Note that the legislation does not apply to local exemptions. As a result, local exemptions for the Second Amendment sales tax holiday remain in effect.
