New Marketplace Facilitator Rules in Place in Michigan

Dec 30th, 2019

Michigan recently passed new laws that affect marketplace facilitators. Effective January 1, 2020, facilitators that meet either of the state's economic nexus thresholds must collect tax on all marketplace sales. Michigan's economic nexus thresholds are (1) more than $100,000 in gross receipts, or (2) 200 or more separate transactions in the state. Note that sales of telecommunication services and sales of rooms or accommodations are not subject to marketplace facilitator rules. marketplace facilitator rules
