Investigation, Guard, and Armored Car Services Taxable in Rhode Island

Beginning July 1, 2018, all investigation, guard, and armored car services will be taxable in Rhode Island. This will include detective services, patrol services, and the collection or delivery of money, receipts, or other valuable items with people and equipment to protect the property while in transit.

Providers of these services will be required to register with the Rhode Island Division of Taxation and pay the annual $10 sales tax permit fee. Additionally, the service providers will need to collect and pay the 7% sales and use tax on transactions involving these services., Guard, and Armored Car Services
