Washington Ballot to Repeal Sales and Use Tax on Sweets and Bottled Water

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

On Washington’s November 2, 2010 ballot, residents will be voting on “Initiative 1107.”

If Washingtonians favor this initiative, they will enjoy a reversal on the current 2 percent sale and use tax on bottled water, soft drinks, gum and candy.

Opinions could be bittersweet with some arguing that abolishing the tax will cause drastic funding cuts to health care and education, and others declaring that the tax was bad policy from the start.
